I am Uncovering My Online Income Sources as a Writer and Blogger
What do I earn? How does the journey begin? How does it expand? What are the authentic and real ways to make money? Everything!
In the past few years, the online world has changed dramatically. First, it was slow progress and awareness in making a living online, but I feel like in these few years onward to pandemic time, the world has changed dramatically. There is a big shift of people to the internet.
At this time, I think everybody is aware of online careers.
I started making a living online in 2020. My first step into this world
I decided to share all my online income sources. It might be helpful for someone to take a step and start a journey into this online world.
It could be:
Inspiration
Motivation
Knowledge
A step in the right direction for someone
Let’s begin…!
The Sources that I am already generating Income from
#1. Freelancing
My first source of income was my first presence in the online world.
I am working on freelance sites as a ghostwriter. As a writer, I write content for websites, ebooks, or books.
I also pen down several creative writing projects.
My first project on Fiverr
The first creative writing project I did was on Fiverr, which was writing a poetry book and adding line or vector art to each page to make it more aesthetic. The client needs a book like “Rupi Kaur’s Milk and Honey.”
#2. Blogging
Blogging is my top choice for making money online because it offers the freedom of being my own boss.
I operate on various writing platforms and maintain my own websites, where I share valuable insights on blogging. It’s not just about the money; I’m genuinely passionate about it.
Blogging combines creativity and entrepreneurship, allowing me to engage with a like-minded community while monetizing my expertise. It’s an exciting journey of building relationships, establishing a brand, and creating a sustainable income stream.
#3. Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing has recently added to to my income streams, beginning in January 2023. It has quickly become a top favourite, following closely behind blogging.
Affiliate marketing works in the way one’s promotes:
Online products or affiliate links and earn a small commission.
My process to promote affiliates is not blind. I first test the thing I am going to promote, and if I find that product (that could be software, a website or another thing) helpful or worth using, I then recommend it to my audience.
#4. Web Builder, Blogger, or BlogSpot
I’ve dedicated two years of my life to comprehensively exploring every aspect of the Blogger website platform. My initial intention when delving into Blogger was not to offer web creation services but to construct my own website.
Along the way, I encountered challenges, experienced moments of frustration, invested significant time, and faced failures, but ultimately emerged victorious. This transformative process has elevated my expertise to a professional level in all things Blogger.
The sources that I have added and planned to work on are:
#5. Low-Content KDP Books
I love the journals, sketchbooks, notebooks and all the stationary stuff. Being a bit artistic, I always get attracted to the materials of artists.
Other than my personal interests, journaling is one of my favourite things. People do journaling to achieve their goals, to pen down their feelings, and so many other things.
In 2023, I added this to my income source. I decided to create helpful and pretty journals for people. I hit my first publish on Amazon, but I haven’t earned anything yet because, of course, I have to put in much more. Though it is not my recent source of income, it is something I added to the list.
It’s 2024 now, and one of my goals is to build my online, low-content book business.
#6. Consultation
For a long time, I have passionately delivered my knowledge and taught a lot of people in my circle about acquiring a new skill, starting freelancing, and writing.
I have seen lots of people on LinkedIn providing consultation for whatever expertise they have. I am not yet so firm about monetizing everything that I tell people. I am passionate about delivery knowledge, and I don’t want to lock up my knowledge for people by setting rates for it.
But for those who want to learn from scratch and where my hours and a large part of my time could be consumed, I will prefer to respect my time, knowledge, and efforts and consider monetizing them with consultation.
Wrapping Up
This is a glimpse of my online life, but it is not an entire story. There is a lot behind the scenes; if I tried to cover all my journey, challenges, learning, and achievements, it could not be covered in a single story. I am working on and planning to work on so many other things as well. I couldn’t share the things about which I am not sure. I will share when I feel that it’s time to share with my audience to make an impact.
