A Secret for Winning Freelance Projects Consistently
At this time, to keep freelancing alive, you have to put some more strategies on the table. Here is a way that I believe is the best to keep freelancing alive and win the project.
Freelancing has become challenging nowadays because freelance platforms are saturated. It is hard to find a project on a freelance platform, even if you are intermediate or expert in your skill.
It is challenging because clients have a lot of opportunities to avail themselves. The service you are offering could be offered at a lower rate by someone else.
For instance, a service that you offer for $100 might be available at $50; thus, clients might be attracted to low-budget services. So what should you do? Are you thinking about decreasing your charges even more? It’s not the right solution. If you lower your price to $30 to attract the client, it will not be a justified gesture to your efforts or skills. You should keep your rates what your service deserves.
At this time, to keep freelancing alive, you have to put some more strategies on the table.
Here is a way that I believe is the best to keep freelancing alive and win the project.
Let’s begin…
A Secret to Freelance Success
Networking is the oxygen of freelancing. Create an account on LinkedIn or social media. Create niche or service-specific ideas, stories or quality content there. By building an audience, you will attract multiple clients. You can drive these clients to Upwork, Fiverr or whatever freelance site you are using.
Why is it Important?
Freelancing is almost dead nowadays because of the high volume of freelancers on platforms. Plus, it also seems like a gamble sometimes.
Let me shed light on some facts to better understand my point.
Fiverr Facts: Ranking your gig on Fiverr is not that easy. Even if you rank, there will be competition from your competitors. Other than that, you have to maintain your ranked gig.
Upwork Facts: I have observed and experienced that SEO does not work well on Upwork. Ranking your profile and project catalogue is challenging once you have gone through the downsides of the platform. Though, in the beginning, it might be different.
Upwork has become so expensive. It takes lots of “connects” to apply for jobs. To make your proposal visible at the top, you need to boost the proposal that requires more “connects”. Connects are expensive, and not everyone can spend lots of money on them. Plus, nobody is sure whether investing in Connects will return something or not.
Networking keeps your business alive
If you have a good audience on LinkedIn and build connections with other like-minded communities, you will never experience the downside of freelance sites.
At the time I started freelancing, I was not aware of networking. Later, when I got to know about LinkedIn, I didn’t spend lots of time growing on the platform and regret why I didn’t. Now that I am planning to grow my LinkedIn profile, it would be far better than investing money and time on a freelance site.
